How can we stop and reverse this corruption, which permeates society?
Enraged expostulation against the outrage du jour has demonstrably not availed the FreeFor. Stern letters to your 'elected' statist representative result in new violations and further outrage, with little or no reversal of past infringements. The Fourth Branch is growing at a record rate. Clearly, what we are doing is not working. In order to come up with a workable plan, we have to understand what motivates those who are destroying America, and those who are enabling this destruction Why are they doing this? If we understand why, then we can decide how to change their decisions.
As I contemplate this question, the answer to which is probably one of the most important pieces of intellectual ammunition in this war of ideas, numerous possibilities suggest themselves, these among them:
-The perpetrators are simply too stupid to understand the situation. ( "Never underestimate the power of human stupidity" - RAH )
-The perpetrators do not believe that what they are doing is treason, and adherence to an oath or to a principle is something that is irrelevant to them. The concept of personal honor is alien to them.
-Those involved simply do not care about the Constitution, individual rights, or the rule of law. Utterly corrupt, they care only for personal power and privilege.
-Shortsightedness; refusal to consider the consequences of their actions. Those involved simply cannot consider anything past the expediency of the moment; they will worry about future problems when they arise.
-The perpetrators DO understand what they are doing, and want things to turn out just as they have. They are dedicated to destroying and 'remaking' America. ( I expect that this class of person is far and away the minority.)
There are other possibilities, and variations on the themes, but these I think are the main contenders. Which is correct? In part, they all are. But what to do?
Once upon a time, actions had consequences. It used to be that when you did something stupid, it cost you. That is clearly no longer the case. Nowadays, if you make a mistake, somebody else pays the price, at least if you are of the entitled class, either "poor" or part of the ruling corporatist oligarchy. Both the corporatists, who steal their wealth by manipulation of the regulatory apparatus of government, and the 'poor' entitlement class, who steal their currency using the same mechanism, are largely exempted from the consequences of their actions, at least economically. They have accomplished this by looting the middle class, by taxing the productive directly and indirectly.
There are inevitable consequences to this sort of behaviour, and we are seeing them more and more clearly. The productive are starting to 'Go Galt,' to simply refuse to produce for the benefit of their oppressors. But the cost of that decision can be high; what can somebody still ensnared in the system do without simply abandoning all that they have worked for their entire life?
The Amish (AKA the "Plain" people) are a fascinating cultural phenomenon worth some study. Pacifists, forbidden to use violence of any sort, with no internal police force and a long history of non-cooperation with government, they still maintain order within their culture. One custom that is used to compel adherence to cultural norms is "shunning." A person being shunned is one who is totally ignored. Nobody speaks to them, listens to them, trades with them or has any social interaction with them at all. They cannot buy from or sell to any other Amish person. As one can imagine this sort of treatment is devastating; the person being shunned will quickly either repent entirely or leave the Amish community.
Once upon a time I had an acquaintance who had fallen on hard times, and after some cursory job-hunting she decided that she would join the newly created TSA. I saw her, in uniform, at the airport when I was traveling one day, and she came to give me a friendly hug. I put out my hand and asked her what she was doing in that uniform. "But, *********" she said, "This was the only job I could find!" I replied, " I want nothing to do with that uniform or anybody that would willingly put it on. I'd just as soon hug a member of the Gestapo. I am stunned that you, of all people, would be willing to violate people's Constitutional rights for a paycheck!" I picked up my carryon, and walked away to my gate.
She was stunned, literally standing there with her mouth open. I saw her several weeks later at a party, and she told me that she had found another job and was not working for the TSA any more, and that what I had said to her, along with similar but more muted distaste expressed by other friends, had been a powerful motivator for that decision.
What would happen to the people who work for tyrannical institutions such as the Federal Reserve if nobody would interact with them? How would they respond to being treated like the social lepers that they are? What if no decent person who knew them would speak to them, sell to them, interact with them? No invitations to parties, no babysitting, other people's children forbidden to talk to them?
Consider the power of shunning, of withdrawing your consent. Make it clear to those who enable oppression that they are considered to be thugs and looters, and will be treated as such. Shun them! Make their evil actions come with consequences. Shunning will educate the ignorant, give the thoughtless cause to reconsider, and put a cost on immorality and thuggery. The only reason that the TSA and organizations like it exist is because we accept the people that work for tyranny. If we are to once again be a free people, we must also once again be a moral people, and the essence of morality is for people to be responsible for their actions. Judge, and prepare to be judged.
Shun the evil.
